As I reflect upon International Women’s Day, one of the things that stands out for me is the common thread among women who have accomplished great things; they almost all talk about who or what inspired them.

Inspiration is such an important component in us choosing to do more, be more, live more and love more. We all need inspiration in order to move towards our dreams and goals.

You may wish to take a moment to reflect upon your own inspirations. Are you moving towards your desired outcomes because you feel inspired to do so? Or are you simply moving away from discomforts and things you fear?

If you are moving away from your fears, you will only move far enough to alleviate the discomfort. However, if you are moving towards your inspirations how far you can go becomes limitless.

WHO IS YOUR INSPIRATION? There is no right answer to this question, it is simply here for reflection. It may be someone in your life who has worked hard to support you, or maybe someone who provided encouragement at a time when you really needed it. It could also be your own curiosity or desire to accomplish great things. Or how about some environmental movement that you have become passionate about supporting.

Everyone responds differently to environmental stimulation. Some see a problem and become overwhelmed or hopeless (this is not inspiration) while others encounter the same problem and immediately look for creative solutions (this is inspiration). No matter what the stimulation, we always have a choice in how we respond.

I would encourage you to stop and take notice of who or what inspires you on a day to day basis, and what overarching inspirations you have in your life. It matters less who or what inspires you, the important thing is that you find your own passion and inspiration so you can create your dreams and desires. Sometimes it is just a matter of stopping to notice and give thanks for the great people or things in your life.

I feel blessed to have had a number of kind, gentle and compassionate people inspire me over the years. And at this point in my life, I turn regularly to my non-physical team for their guidance and inspiration to constantly strive to a more loving and grace-filled life. I certainly don’t get it right all the time, but I have that inspiration to pull me forward when I need it.

And now in these rapidly changing times with access to so much information, taking the time to stay tuned to who and what inspires us can be invaluable.
