We will be staying in a retreat environment on both sides of the island. Accommodations are shared, but this may mean a king bed with two people, or two single beds in a room. There are also a couple of rooms that have one single bed. The exact configuration will depend upon the people going and the final number. I will do my best to give the couples the private shared accommodations and the single people as much privacy as possible. Hilo side accommodations are at Ramashala which is a Buddhist retreat center and we will have the entire compound. There is a black sand beach across the road and a short hike down the cliffs. http://www.ramashala.com Kona side accommodations are at Whale Song Sanctuary where we will have the entire main house, and then the additional studios as necessary. The beach is about a 10 minute walk down the hill, so we will have a spectacular view. http://www.whalesongsanctuary.com Both places have kitchen facilities, and two of my sons, Brennan & Kelly, who both have extensive experience working in restaurants, will be doing the cooking with me. We will provide two meals per day and open access to the kitchen/fridge for snacking. The focus will be on local fruits, vegetables and fish, but meat will be available for the hard-core carnivores. People raved constantly about the meals last year – we aim for the same response on this trip. Please contact me by email or phone 306 530-0289 for more information and for a registration form. Space is limited, so all registration forms must be accompanied by a $750 non-refundable deposit to guarantee your spot.
Response to some of your questions: 1. My partner is not into all that 'spiritual stuff', can they still come? Absolutely, all are welcome and everyone has the option of not taking part in any events, however the focus is on mindfulness, connection to spirit and connection to the island. There will be opportunities to do yoga, take part in meditations and have meta-physical discussions, and while these are optional for all participants, there will not be alternative activities organized during these times. 2. I have not taken any classes with you, can I still attend? The answer is 'yes' again. There is no pre-req for you to have attended any of my classes. Several people attending the last two events had not. There will be a larger 'teaching' component in the 2013 trip than in previous years. 3. I am not able to walk very well, is this a good trip for me? No, this would not be the best fit. There is a lot of physical activity included in this vacation, and you will certainly enjoy it more if you are relatively able bodied. 4. Can I drink while with the group? No alcohol is included in the price, however, we will be passing through locations with liquor outlets and anyone wishing to pick up supplies, will be accommodated. Most of us had a relaxing drink or two in the evenings last year. 5. I can't swim, can I still take part? We will be going out onto the ocean both by kayak and on a larger boat, plus entering the water to snorkel and swim with the dolphins. There will be guides with us to assist with these activities, and you will have access to life jackets. I will also be there to help anyone who requires it. Again, there is no requirement to get into the water, if that is what is more comfortable for you. The kayaking and dolphin swim are included in the vacation price, but the manta ray swim is optional.
